The Summer of Liz

First things first ... give yourself 10 points if you understand the connection between today's blog title and the photo of George Costanza over there.

If you didn't make the connection, allow me to explain briefly. In a classic Seinfeld episode, George realizes his severance from the Yankees is enough to last him three months. He declares it the Summer of George and says he is going to live it up. Of course, because he's George, things don't go exactly as planned and he ends up being extremely lazy, which becomes a problem for him later.

Well, I have decided to take a page from George's book ... sort of. With summer (which just happens to be my favorite season) a mere two days away, I am declaring this the Summer of Liz.

You could say that I've already done the lazy part. I have not been blogging much lately. OK, "much" is an exaggeration. It's been about six weeks since my last post, The Red Hot Test. There has just been a lot going on and it's been hard to find the time, let alone the inspiration.

Rather than beat myself up about it, I'm giving in. I am going to take the new few months to get my writing mojo back. I am going to soak up some Vitamin D and spend time playing outdoors, take in a movie (Rock of Ages, anyone?), and hopefully a concert or two (Rock of Ages, anyone?). I hope my summer also includes a trip to the beach, because it has been far too long since I've felt sand between my toes.

During the Summer of Liz, you won't see many (if any) posts here. You'll find some motivation and other red hot stuff on my Facebook page, though, so if you're not already doing so, I hope you'll follow me there.

While I'm recharging my batteries, I hope you'll be doing the same. You can't stay red hot if you're burning the candle at both ends, right? You'll just burn out.

So for now, I'm wishing you a happy summer and encouraging you to make some time for yourself soon too. Stay Red Hot!

What do you think? What are you doing this summer to make time for YOU?
